With little rainfall you’ll enjoy tons of sun, but since this is peak season, prices and crowds can be higher.
Jamaica’s rainy season is between May and November. If you don’t mind some frequent rain showers, then this isn’t a bad time to visit either. In fact, the island is at its greenest during these months, and prices are lower.
Note that hurricane season also occurs during the rainy season, from June to November. While hurricanes in Jamaica are rare, they do still occur. August, September, and October are when the threat is highest so if you visit during those months, stay aware of the weather and get travel insurance.

Sandals Dunn’s River is the newest of the 7 adults-only all-inclusive Sandals resorts in Jamaica, and our favorite. The food, bars, rooms, surroundings, and level of service have all been taken up a level here. And as at all Sandals resorts, you get a ton of complimentary watersports including scuba diving and snorkeling, as well as land activities like tennis, and nightly entertainment.
Sandals Dunn’s River features a lot of “firsts” for the Sandals brand including all-new restaurants and bars. There are 12 restaurants and 7 bars, including a rooftop bar, a swim-up bar, and an upscale lounge. We loved the rum bar and the new coffee shop concept. There are also amazing luxurious accommodations like SkyPool Suites, which feature an elevated private plunge pool with an infinity edge that overlooks the Caribbean.
Sandals Royal Caribbean, Montego Bay
Sandals Royal Caribbean is located very close to Sangster International Airport, so you can get your vacation started quickly. It has a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of complimentary water and land activities and a beautiful private offshore island with a pool, swim-up bar, beach cabanas, and restaurant.
On the island you’ll also find the amazing overwater bungalows, and there are plenty of other luxurious rooms and suites to choose from. There are also 9 restaurants and 5 bars, and you get access to all the activities and amenities at nearby Sandals Montego Bay as well (which has a more lively atmosphere). You can also easily explore Montego Bay or book a wide variety of area excursions.
Sandals Royal Plantation, Ocho Rios
In our opinion, Sandals Royal Plantation is an excellent choice if you are looking for a quiet and sophisticated resort but still want plenty to do. There are only 74 ocean-view suites nestled along the beachside at Sandals Royal Plantation. They all include butler service, and since the resort is small, your butler and other staff will always be nearby to serve you a drink, bring you some food, help you schedule an excursion, or anything else you may need.
You can laze by the pool before heading off for a round of golf (with free green fees and transportation), or enjoy a wide variety of complimentary watersports including snorkeling, scuba diving, and paddleboarding. There are multiple restaurants and bars onsite, including the only champagne and caviar bar in Jamaica, and you also have access to all the amenities, restaurants, and bars at Sandals Ochi.
Jamaica Inn, Ocho Rios
Ranked as one of the best boutique hotels in Jamaica, Jamaica Inn offers old-world charm, unspoiled scenery, and a pristine beach for a stress-free getaway. There are no TVs or radios in the 48 tastefully designed suites to encourage conversations and relaxation. Suites also feature outdoor showers, private plunge pools, and soaking tubs.
You can enjoy water sports including kayaking and paddleboarding as well as spa services onsite. Jamaica Inn is near attractions such as Dunn’s River Falls and Dolphin’s Cove if you want to explore the area.
Half Moon Resort, Montego Bay
This elegant resort near Jamaica’s famous Montego Bay hosts celebrities, royalty, and everyone else on its breathtaking stretch of the Caribbean. A family-run hotel, Half Moon Resort features something for everyone, especially couples.
Foodies will love the fresh, locally sourced ingredients, used to create traditional Jamaican food and other delicious offerings at 4 restaurants. 5 Nights in Jamaica Itinerary
Now that you’ve decided on when to visit and where to stay, it’s time to get down to the business of planning your daily activities. With just 5 nights in Jamaica, you’ll want to consider traveling around a bit without rushing through each day for the best experience.
Day 1 – Arrival
The first day of your trip is going to require some travel. Most flights arrive between 11 am and 4 pm. This will allow you to get to your resort in time to relax, eat dinner, and enjoy the night’s entertainment.
Day 2 – Excursions
On day 2, it’s time to go on an excursion.
If you are looking for culture, visit Kingston which sits closer to the middle of the island. It’s a longer distance from a beach, but has plenty of great things to experience.
Two of the biggest draws in Kingston are the Bob Marley Museum and Devon House. One of the most iconic musicians in history, Bob Marley had his home in Jamaica. The museum focuses on both Bob Marley’s life and his impact on the musical landscape. You’ll love seeing Bob Marley’s guitar and the place he called home.
The Devon House was home to the Caribbean’s first black millionaire. Not only is this 19th-century home full of rich history, it also houses park facilities, restaurants, and a few shops. You’ll be able to experience so much of Jamaica’s history and culture in a single stop.
If you are interested in outdoor fun, check out the Ocho Rios area. Some of the biggest attractions in the Ochos Rios area include the Blue Hole, Dunn’s River Falls, Yaaman Adventure Park, and Mystic Mountain. The Blue Hole is a system of natural pools created out of the island’s limestone. Dunn’s River Falls is one of the most beautiful natural landscapes in Jamaica. You can hike and climb the falls, bathe in the natural pools, or set up for the day on Dunn’s River Falls beach.
Day 3 – Shopping
After adventuring and exploring, it’s time to take in a little culture and do some shopping. Spend the day exploring different craft markets or go shopping on the Hip Strip in bustling Montego Bay. You’re sure to find some incredible souvenirs to remember your trip.
You can also plan another excursion for day 3 if you had too much planned for the day before. If you didn’t get the chance, plan to explore Blue Hole or Dunn’s River Falls, or go rafting down the Martha Brae River.
Day 4 – Relax
In order to return home recharged, take this day to relax around the resort. Spend a day at the pool or on the beach, and schedule a spa appointment for extra pampering.
Day 5 – Say Goodbye
The last and final day of your 5 nights in Jamaica will take you back to the airport. Hopefully, you have time for a relaxing breakfast and some time in the water before you go.
