Where to Stay
A big decision for your 2 weeks in Jamaica is where to stay. The island of Jamaica has plenty of incredible resorts and hotels. You’ll like to split your time between Ocho Rios, Montego Bay, and Negril and your budget will dictate where you will be staying.
Also, if you are spending two weeks in Jamaica you probably do not want to spend all your time on an expensive all-inclusive resort, so you’ll want to choose from a variety of accommodations.
Where to stay in Ocho Rios
For luxury seekers, Sandals Dunn’s River Resort stands out as a top choice, boasting an all-inclusive experience with lavish amenities, private beaches, and an array of dining options. This resort caters to couples seeking romance and relaxation, with private villas, personal butler service, and exclusive beachfront access.
Alternatively, Moon Palace Jamaica, another all-inclusive resort, provides a family-friendly atmosphere with spacious rooms, numerous pools, a kids’ club, and exciting activities such as a FlowRider® wave simulator and snorkeling excursions.
Where to stay in Montego Bay
Montego Bay, known for its stunning beaches and vibrant culture, offers a range of accommodations that cater to diverse preferences and budgets.
We recommend the S Hotel. Located in Montego Bay, this hotel is more affordable than Sandals but gets rave reviews. While staying at the resort you can explore the nearby areas and take a day trip into Kingston for more cultural experiences.
For those seeking a luxurious, all-inclusive experience, Secrets Wild Orchid Montego Bay is an excellent choice. This adults-only resort features elegant suites with ocean views, a private beach, and an array of gourmet dining options. The resort also boasts a world-class spa, multiple pools, and nightly entertainment, ensuring that guests have both relaxation and excitement at their fingertips.
Where to stay in Negril
Negril, famous for its stunning seven-mile beach and laid-back vibe, offers a range of accommodations that cater to different tastes and preferences
For some laid back resorts that are mid priced, I would choose Skylark Negril Beach Resort or Nirvana on the Beach. These are not the luxury resorts you might be expecting in Jamaica, but if you aren’t spending much time on resort it doesn’t matter all that much.
Negril, famous for its stunning seven-mile beach and laid-back vibe, offers a range of accommodations that cater to different tastes and preferences. For those seeking luxury and all-inclusive amenities, Sandals Negril Beach Resort & Spa is a top choice. This adults-only resort features beautifully appointed suites, some with swim-up access and private plunge pools. Guests can enjoy a variety of gourmet dining options, an extensive list of water sports, and a world-class spa. The resort’s prime location on Seven Mile Beach provides breathtaking views and direct access to one of the most beautiful stretches of sand in the Caribbean.
For a more intimate and boutique experience, The Cliff Hotel offers a serene and luxurious retreat perched on the dramatic cliffs of Negril’s West End. This upscale boutique hotel features spacious suites and villas with stunning ocean views, an infinity pool, and a holistic spa.
Getting Around Jamaica
Two weeks in Jamaica gives you the opportunity to do a little bit of traveling around the island. When it comes to transportation, most people will take provided shuttle services to group excursions or from the airports. You can also call a taxi to get your around pretty much anywhere.
There are tour operators that will give you a better deal if you work with them a lot. Additionally you may take a taxi with a drive you like and get their phone number to keep you moving around the island.
2 Weeks in Jamaica Itinerary
2 weeks in Jamaica is plenty of time to see different parts of the island nation of Jamaica. But without a plan, the days can get away from you. Check out this 2 weeks in Jamaica itinerary to get an idea of where to go and how long to stay.
Day 1 – Arrival
The first day of your trip is going to require some travel. Most flights arrive between 11 am and 4 pm. This will allow you to get to your resort in time to relax some, eat dinner, and enjoy the night entertainment.
Days 2-5 – Ocho Rios
Ocho Rios is home to some of the most incredible natural landscapes on the island, and it’s all just waiting to be explored. So it’s a great place to go for a little bit more adventure and adrenaline.
Spend some time exploring Dunn’s River Falls. This gorgeous set of waterfalls is more than worth your time. Climb to the top of the falls, then explore some of the caves and grottos that dot the around, too.
You can also feel the breeze while ziplining down through the rainforest of Mystic Mountain. If you love classic movies, you can also catch a bobsled ride down that same mountain.
We love going to the Blue Hole and tubing down a spring fed river while we are in the area.
When you aren’t out exploring, spend some time by the pool or relaxing on the beach.
Day 5 – Explore the Blue Mountains
For coffee lovers, you can’t miss a day in the Blue Mountains. Just a short drive or ride outside of Kingston, you’ll find these gorgeous mountains. This is where most of Jamaica’s amazing coffee is grown, so you’ll get to see coffee from the plant to the cup. Plus, there are plenty of places you can go to taste some.
On top of that, the Blue Mountains offer a different perspective of Jamaica. Away from all the hustle and bustle of the city or the (sometimes) loud and crowded beach areas, the Blue Mountains are simply breathtaking.
Day 6-9 – Montego Bay
Montego Bay is one of the most popular spots in all of Jamaica, so it’s a great place to start your Jamaican adventure. Plus, this area of the island has everything all in one spot – culture, history, the beach, and the ocean.
Take some time to explore the historical aspects of Montego Bay. You can find plenty of knowledge tour guides to give you the best experience. Choose from places like Rose Hall Great House or stroll along the “Hip Strip” to do a little shopping and taste some of the best local food.
Then it’s time to hit the beach. You can relax in the sand or try out any number of water sports. Find some great activities and sand at Doctor’s Cove Beach or Cornwall Beach.
Day 10 – A day trip to Kingston
A big draw to the capital city is the history and architecture. You can enjoy long strolls down different streets examining the beauty of the historic buildings, but you can also get a glimpse of Jamaican royalty. Bob Marley’s home can be found near Kingston, so be sure to stop in for a tour of the home and early days of the legend, Bob Marley.
Days 11-14 – Negril
The next few days are for another great Jamaica hotspot, Negril. This area is known for the beaches and is home to the iconic Seven Mile Beach. This long stretch of pristine Caribbean beach is perfect for a little relaxing or a little snorkeling.
Negril is also home to the water park, Kool Runnings Adventure Park. So, if you’re looking for a fun and different way to cool off, then visit this iconic water park.
Plus, there are plenty of great restaurants and bars along the beach. And this area is often considered to be the best place for a Caribbean sunset. Plan to end your night in a restaurant overlooking the ocean as the sunsets.
Best Time to Visit Jamaica
Jamaica is a great “anytime” destination. The weather is warm year-round, but there are definitely better times to visit than others. The best time to visit is the island’s dry season, which runs from mid-December to mid-April. There is little rainfall, tons of sun, and warm temperatures.
Jamaica’s rainy season is between May and November. If you don’t mind some frequent rain showers, then this isn’t a bad time to visit either. In fact, the island is at its greenest during these months, so it’s a great time to experience another side of Jamaica.
You do have to consider hurricane season when booking your travels. While hurricanes in Jamaica are rare, they do still occur. August, September, and October are when Jamaica is at its highest threat of hurricane-developing storms, so if you are making plans during those months be aware of changing weather conditions.
Expected Cost for 2 Weeks in Jamaica
The cost for 2 weeks in Jamaica can vary depending on the time of year and accommodations you choose. This is good news because you’re in control of the budget, and you can put more money in areas you think are more important.
