Jamaica is home to seven Sandals resorts—the most of any island in the Caribbean! The entire brand that has revolutionized all-inclusive resorts started in Montego Bay and now has options spread across Montego Bay, South Coast, Negril, and Ocho Rios.
As one of the few Sandals’ Chairman’s Royal Club Diamond Elite Members, we have visited each resort at least twice in the last 2 years and helped thousands of clients book their stay at Sandals. Sandals Dunn’s River
Sandals Dunn’s River is the newest Sandals Resort in Jamaica and our personal favorite in Jamaica. The resort was purchased and the entire resort was reimagined. This included new pools, spas, rondoval suites and new restauarants. To my knowledge only one main building remains. The newly renovated property seamlessly blends modern luxury with the island’s rich culture, offering incredible culinary experiences, spacious accommodations, and thrilling water sports.
We noticed elevated service on resorts and the food surpassed our expectations. We were pleasantly suprised that the Italian restaurant was managed by an Italian. The Greek restaurant had amazing Lamb chops and Zuka had unique flavors inspired by Latin American cuisine.

This resort also has the best variety of specialty cocktail menus at the different bars with the highlight being the Rum Club where there are dozens of rums to taste and cocktails as well as a delicious menu of small local bites.
One of the highlights of our stay was the proximity to so many exciting excursions. Within a 30 minute drive you can access Dunn’s River Falls, the Blue Hole, river tubing, ziplining and may other options.
After visiting every Sandals resort in Jamaica, I can confidently say that Sandals Dunn’s River is my favorite. It’s next-level luxury, and the experience truly lives up to the hype. The entire resort was completely reimagined so everything is either brand new or feel brand new.
From the moment we arrived, we felt the elevated level of service. The staff was incredibly attentive, and the dining experience was the best we’ve had at any Sandals resort.
I’ve always enjoyed the food at Sandals resorts, but Dunn’s River took it to another level. Every meal was a pleasant surprise, and some of our absolute favorites included:
• Edessa – The Greek restaurant where we had some of the best lamb chops we’ve ever eaten.
• Banyu – A creative Asian-fusion experience that impressed us with its variety of flavors.
• Cascata – An authentic italian restaurant I never expected in Jamaica with an Italian general manager.
• Zuka – Featuring bold Latin American flavors, every dish here was unique and exciting. Do not miss this restaurant! Some guest don’t notice it next to the Rum Club
One of our unexpected highlights was the Rum Club. We were able to sample dozens of rums from around the Caribbean while enjoying small plates of local Jamaican bites—an experience we haven’t had at any other Sandals resort.
There are to large river style infinity pools at Dunn’s River. They are right on the beach and glass-walled, giving it a modern, high-end feel.
The resort is located in Ocho Rios which is close to tons of the best excursions in Jamaica including our favorite, the Blue Hole and River Tubing as well as Dunn’d River Falls. You are also close to the golf course with green fees included in your stay.
If you’re planning a Sandals vacation in Jamaica, this is the resort to book. Everything from the elevated accommodations to the incredible dining and top-notch service made this our favorite Sandals resort in Jamaica.

“Our stay at Sandals Dunn’s River was simply magical. Climbing the falls was an experience we’ll never forget, and the food was out of this world. The mix of adventure and luxury made this the perfect getaway!” – Michael & Sarah, New York
Sandals Royal Plantation
Sandals Royal Plantation is truly one-of-a-kind—a resort that offers a level of personalized luxury unlike any other in Jamaica. Nestled on the lush bluffs of Ocho Rios, this boutique-style resort features just 74 ocean-view suites, each with all-butler service, creating an exclusive and intimate atmosphere.
From the moment we arrived, we knew this was something special. The resort has a quiet elegance, and the personalized service made us feel like we were VIP guests at a private estate. Unlike the larger, high-energy Sandals resorts, Royal Plantation is designed for those who appreciate tranquility, exceptional service, and a slower pace of luxury.

One of the biggest highlights of staying at Sandals Royal Plantation is the unmatched butler service. Every single suite comes with a dedicated butler, and the level of attention is simply incredible. Our butler knew exactly what we needed before we even asked, bringing our favorite drinks throughout the day, suprising us with snacks and making sure our lunch was ready just when we wanted it.
The beach service here is the best we’ve ever experienced at a Sandals resort. While the beach is not the largest, it’s secluded and feels completely private, tucked away into its own little cove. The beach bar staff was incredibly attentive, always making sure we had drinks and snacks without ever having to leave our chairs. If you’re looking for a stress-free, pampered beach day, this is the perfect place to experience it.
Despite being the smallest Sandals resort, Royal Plantation offers five specialty restaurants that deliver an exceptional fine dining experience. The atmosphere is more intimate and refined, with a focus on quality over quantity.
For those who want more variety, the best part is that guests at Royal Plantation have full access to Sandals Ochi, just a five-minute shuttle ride away. This means that while Royal Plantation offers a calm, luxurious retreat, you can still enjoy all the dining, entertainment, and nightlife at Sandals Ochi whenever you want. It’s truly the best of both worlds.
What really stands out about Sandals Royal Plantation is its incredibly loyal following. More than any other Sandals resort, guests return year after year, and many love the resort just the way it is. While some of the rooms have not been recently updated, fans of Royal Plantation actually prefer the classic, timeless feel.
If you’re looking for modern, ultra-trendy accommodations, this may not be the best fit. But if you appreciate old-world charm with a touch of exclusivity, this resort will exceed your expectations.
Why Sandals Royal Plantation Stands Out
- Boutique, All-Butler Resort – Every guest enjoys personalized butler service
- Secluded & Tranquil – A quiet, adults-only escape with an intimate ambiance
- Private Beach Coves – Two pristine, uncrowded beaches for ultimate relaxation
- Access to Sandals Ochi – Complimentary shuttle to a larger, livelier Sandals resort for more dining and entertainment options
Who It’s Best For
- Couples seeking an intimate, quiet, and personalized luxury experienc
- Travelers who prefer a relaxed atmosphere with minimal crowds
Things to Consider Before Booking
- Smaller, quieter resort with limited nightlife and entertainment
- Butler service is highly personalized, which may not suit those preferring a more casual experience
- For excursions and scuba diving you may need to go to Sandals Ochi
Sandals Negril
Sandals Negril: A Laid-Back Beachfront Paradise
Nestled along Jamaica’s famous Seven Mile Beach, Sandals Negril offers an idyllic escape for those seeking a laid-back, yet luxurious beachfront experience. From the moment we stepped onto the soft, powdery sand, we knew this resort was something special. The breathtaking sunsets over the turquoise waters created the perfect setting for romance, and the gentle waves made every swim feel like floating in a natural paradise.

One of the things we loved most about Sandals Negril was its intimate, cozy vibe. Since the resort is stretched along the beach, it never felt crowded. We could easily stroll from our suite to the ocean in just a few steps. Most of the rooms here are beachfront, and the addition of new Skypool Suites has transformed the accommodations, offering a private infinity pool with stunning ocean views—the perfect way to experience luxury and nature at the same time.
We loved starting our mornings with breakfast on the beach, feet in the sand, while enjoying fresh tropical fruit and made-to-order omelets. The servers learned our orders after 2 days and made every morning perfect. Our afternoon stop at Crema Café for a cappuccino became a daily ritual, and dinner at Brava, the resort’s newest restaurant, was a standout with its flavorful Mediterranean-inspired dishes.
The beach is the true star of Sandals Negril. The pristine white sand and calm, clear waters make this one of the best beaches at a Sandals Resort and because it sits on a protected cove, the water remains calm and shallow, making it perfect for relaxing swims, snorkeling, and watersports.
Speaking of watersports—Sandals Negril is one of the few Sandals Resorts that offers motorized water sports like wakeboarding, waterskiing, and tubing—all included! Whether you want to glide across the waves or dive beneath them, this resort has it all.
One of the most iconic excursions near Sandals Negril is a catamaran cruise to Rick’s Café. This world-famous bar, perched on cliffs overlooking the Caribbean, is a must-visit for those looking to watch daring cliff jumpers (or take the plunge themselves).
Since Negril is more remote than Montego Bay, the area feels more authentically Jamaican, allowing you to experience a side of the island that’s a little less commercialized. That said, it’s still just an hour’s drive from Montego Bay’s Sangster International Airport (MBJ), and complimentary airport transfers make getting here effortless.
Why Sandals Negril Stands Out
- Prime Beachfront Location – Situated on Jamaica’s famous Seven Mile Beach with stunning sunset views
- Laid-Back & Romantic Atmosphere – Perfect for couples seeking a relaxed but upscale experience
- Wide Variety of Water Activities – Unlimited scuba diving, snorkeling, paddleboarding and wake boarding
- Beachfront Swim-Up Suites – Ultimate luxury with direct access to the beach
Who It’s Best For
- Beach lovers looking for a laid-back, barefoot luxury experience
- Couples who enjoy stunning sunset views and beachfront accommodation

Sandals Montego Bay
Sandals Montego Bay is the original Sandals Resort and has been expanded and completely renovated since opening 30 years ago.
One of the best things about Sandals Montego Bay is how quickly you can get here. Located just 10 minutes from the airport, we were on the beach with a drink in hand in no time. Yes, you do hear some jet noise, but honestly, after the first day, it stopped bothering us.

From the moment we arrived, there was always something happening at Sandals Montego Bay. The resort strikes a perfect balance between romance and energy—ideal for couples who want luxury and relaxation but also a fun, social vibe.
Whether we were sipping cocktails at the beachfront bar, enjoying gourmet meals at one of the 12 restaurants, or dancing the night away to live music, every night felt like a celebration of island life.
For those who want even more variety, Montego Bay offers a “Stay at One, Play at Two” program, meaning we had full access to the neighboring Sandals Royal Caribbean. This gave us even more dining, entertainment, and beach options, making it feel like we were getting two vacations in one.
We stayed in one of the new swim-up suites, which featured direct pool access and breathtaking ocean views. The new Olianders restaurant also impressed us, showcasing some of the innovative cuisine being introduced at Sandals resorts.
If you love the beach, Sandals Montego Bay is the place to be. Sitting on Jamaica’s largest white sand beach on the north coast, it’s the best beachfront experience at any Sandals resort in Montego Bay. The water is clear and calm, making it perfect for swimming, snorkeling, or just floating with a cocktail in hand.
Why Sandals Montego Bay Stands Out
- Prime Beachfront Location – Set on one of Jamaica’s best private beaches
- Vibrant & Lively Atmosphere – Ideal for couples who love entertainment and socializing
- Swim-Up Suites & Modern Accommodations – Newly renovated rooms with luxurious features
- Gourmet Dining & Unlimited Drinks – 12 restaurants and premium spirits included and you can visit Sandals Royal Caribbean for more options

Guest Review:
“We return to Sandals Montego Bay year after year for the beautiful beach, lively atmosphere, and incredible dining. We loved how close it was to the airport, and the service was top-notch. Can’t wait to return!” – Jessica & Ryan, Florida
Sandals Royal Caribbean
Since Sandals Montego Bay is right down the road its always hard to decide between the two, but Sandals Royal Caribbean is the quieter of the two resorts. One of the highlights is the private offshore island that is a quick boat ride from the main resort and features a secluded beach, a fun swim-up bar, a Jerk Shack for lunch and an incredible Thai restaurant, making it feel like a resort within a resort.

Over the past few years, Sandals Royal Caribbean has undergone major renovations, making it feel fresh and modern and building new suites with Skypools and ocean views.. Even the most affordable rooms have been upgraded, making them feel more in line with Club-level rooms at other Sandals resorts.
While Royal Caribbean has fantastic dining on-site, one of the biggest perks of staying here is access to Sandals Montego Bay, just a five-minute shuttle ride away. This gave us even more dining options, plus access to Montego Bay’s lively pools and extended beachfront. It truly felt like we were getting two resorts in one.
We found Sandals Royal Caribbean to be one of the more relaxed Sandals resorts, perfect for couples looking for a quieter, more intimate atmosphere. The main beach is small but beautiful, and with the addition of the private island, there were plenty of spots to find seclusion and serenity.
You wont find a large and lively pool here but instead several smaller ones perfect for socializing and relaxing.
Why Sandals Royal Caribbean Stands Out
- Exclusive Private Island – Features a private beach, Thai restaurant, and overwater bungalows
- Variety of Dining & Activities – Multiple pools, gourmet restaurants, and a lively yet relaxing ambiance
- Convenient Location – Just minutes from Montego Bay airport
Who It’s Best For
- Couples looking for a quiet convinent getaway
- Travelers who love luxury and overwater bungalows
Things to Consider Before Booking
- Private island access is via a short boat ride
- Beach on the mainland section is smaller than other Sandals resorts
- Due to proximity to the airport, jet noise can be heard regularly
Sandals Ochi
Sandals Ochi is one of my personal favorite Sandals Resorts in Jamaica where we have made great memories. It is the largest and most diverse, offering an experience that caters to every type of traveler. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing, romantic retreat or a high-energy, social atmosphere, this resort truly has it all.
With 16 restaurants, 11 bars, multiple pools, and a beach broke into a few different areas there is something for everyone. The resort is divided into two distinct areas, the Riviera Seaside Village and the Hillside.
The Riviera Seaside Village section includes the beach and several pools and restaurants. The Hillside includes the Great House with the most lively pool as well as the Butler Villiage where there are secluded villas with 2 – 4 rooms per building that share a semi-private pool.

A unique feature is the Rabbit Hole, a speakeasy hidden behind a secret entrance with entertainment going late into the night.
For us, we loved staying on the hillside and the privacy the villas gave us, however if you are looking a beachside resort, the other side of the resort will be perfect for you. When we did leave the hillside, we preferred the Riviera Pool. It has music so it isnt silent but also isnt roudy. It also has a swim up bar and a pizza restaurant next to it as well.
As with the other resorts in Ocho Rios, it is a perfect location to enjoy the best excursions in Jamaica and you have quick access to the Golf Resort.
Why Sandals Ochi Stands Out
- Two Distinct Vibes – Choose between the lively Great House Village or the serene Riviera Seaside
- Largest Sandals Resort – Expansive layout with 16 restaurants and multiple pools
- Private Beach Club – Exclusive beach access with DJs and cabanas
- Great for Socializing – Vibrant atmosphere with swim-up bars and live entertainment
- Affordable Luxury – One of the most budget-friendly Sandals resorts
Who It’s Best For
- Couples who love nightlife and entertainment
- Travelers who want a mix of relaxation and fun
- Food lovers looking for diverse dining options
- Guests seeking a budget-friendly Sandals experience
Things to Consider Before Booking
- Large property requires shuttles for some areas
- Beach area is smaller compared to other Sandals resorts
Guest Review:
“Sandals Ochi had the best of both worlds—serene spots for relaxation and vibrant nightlife for fun! The variety of restaurants was amazing. We’ll definitely be back!” – Mike & Lisa, Georgia
Sandals South Coast
We put Sandals South Coast at the bottom of the list, only because of the drive. We know that a lot of people have no problem with the drive, but we get car sick which makes this trip a bummer. Also, all of the resorts provide an amazing experience so we need to find a reason to place a resort below the others.

Sandals South Coast is a favorite among Sandals fans, offering a peaceful retreat along Jamaica’s untouched southern coastline. The resort has a two-mile-long beach that we enjoyed walking each night after dinner and a setting that feels far removed from the bustle of everyday life.
The entire resort is set along the shoreline, meaning every single room offers ocean views—something that’s rare even among beachfront resorts. Whether we were sipping cocktails at the overwater bar, swimming in one of the largest pools in the Caribbean, or enjoying a gourmet meal at one of the nine restaurants, every moment felt intentionally designed for both relaxation and romance.
For those who love lounging by the pool, this resort is an excellent choice. There are three large pools, each with its own vibe—the main pool is lively and social, while the others offer a more relaxed and quiet setting. The beach is expansive, so finding a private spot without feeling crowded is easy, and there’s no rush to reserve chairs like at some other resorts. We recommend the beach closest to the overwater bungalows.
Most of the rooms have been recently refurbished, and many now feature Sandals’ signature Tranquility Soaking Tubs on the patio, adding an extra touch of luxury and romance. Since our visit, Sandals has announced exciting updates, including a Rum Bar, a new Butch’s Steakhouse, and Blum Coffee Shop serving Jamaica’s famous Blue Mountain Coffee. These additions only enhance what is already one of the most breathtaking and well-loved Sandals Resorts in Jamaica.
Why Sandals South Coast Stands Out
- Secluded Oceanfront Location – Set on a pristine, two-mile private beach
- Massive Pools & Swim-Up Bars – Home to one of the largest pools in the Caribbean
Who It’s Best For
- Couples seeking a secluded, beachfront getaway with stunning ocean views
- Honeymooners looking for an ultra-romantic, all-inclusive experience
- Guests who love water activities and expansive pools
- Great for Pickleball groups
Things to Consider Before Booking
- More remote location, requiring a longer transfer from the airport (~90 minutes)
- Limited nightlife compared to some of the livelier Sandals resorts
- The beach can have seaweed at times, depending on the season

“Our stay at Sandals South Coast was absolute perfection! The food, the service, and the views—everything was incredible. We can’t wait to return!” – Lisa & Jonathan, California
